Object Atlas (2024)

This workshop of the Metabolic Museum-University focuses on the interpretation of artefacts from the dual perspective of anthropological and art-related positions. Students from the University of Mexico’s Department of Anthropology collaborate with their colleagues from the class of Santiago Borja at the La Esmeralda, the art school. Each student is asked to each bring an object of their choice to the workshop. It can take any shape or form as long as it can be carried physically to La Esmeralda. All artefacts are positioned together to form the basis for a Debating Chamber. Visual analysis, cross-referentiality, decontextualization, narratology, critical fabulation and new interpretations are generated through the collective discussion of this changing Object Atlas.
